Whose name is derived from the name of my neighborhood, El Sereno, along with the two hills of Ascot Hills, east of downtown Los Angeles, in Southern California. It was there that I began the screenplay for “The Hell of the Living” and initiated its production process, which would conclude with my return to Santa Fe, Argentina, in 2023 to film my first feature film, and to live.
In parallel with the filming of the movie, with a group from the “Hell of the Living” crew, El Sereno Films produced the short film “The Border of Desire,” a free adaptation of the monologue by Juan from Strindberg's “Miss Julie,” which I directed and in which I acted.
While “Hell of the Living” was being released, I started writing a new screenplay with Gastón Onetto in Santa Fe called “De la piel suave.” El Sereno Films, in co-production with the Muchasiesta cooperative, organized the pre-production of the movie and shot it in two and a half weeks with a crew of 10 people. After several months of editing, we are almost ready to take it to festivals.
At the same time, the production company began the work of mastering and restoring my Super 8 shorts made in Santa Fe in the 70s and “Punks,” a medium-length film produced in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1984. “Punks” was screened at MALBA (Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires) in the "Beyond Forgetfulness" series in January 2026.
El Sereno Films seeks to develop audiovisual projects that express a sensitive vision of art and the reality we live in, celebrating collective work and community values as tools for resistance and transformation.
