The cinema told by its people

What Alberto achieved was to give us back our own unfiltered image. So often cinema comes from outside to 'disguise' reality, but here we felt the camera was just another neighbor. Seeing familiar faces and our streets on a giant screen wasn't just an artistic achievement, it was an act of justice for our identity.
Solitude
I went to see "El infierno de los vivos" with trepidation due to the raw subject matter, but I was met with astonishing delicacy. Gieco doesn't dwell on cheap shots; she chooses to show the strength that arises from pain. You leave the theater with the feeling that cinema is for this: to name what hurts and begin to heal it in community.
Marcelo
It's evident that he's a director who has traveled the world and worked with the greatest, yet never lost the sensitivity of his hometown. He possesses impeccable, international technique, but it's placed at the service of a minimal, local, and profoundly human story. It's this contrast that makes his work so powerful and necessary.
Leonardo
Gieco's films stay with you long after the lights come up. They invite you to think about the stories held within the houses you pass every day. He managed to transform a novel into a living document, reminding us that every corner of our province has a truth that deserves to be told with that honesty.
